Atypical & Awesome “Prayer Journaling and Screeches”
I am laying in bed on this Sunday morning enjoy a few solitary moments of peace. I woke up around 4:30 am which is highly uncharacteristic. Phillip had to leave for work relatively early so I did a load of dishes, folded a load of laundry, poured my first cup of coffee, and took my heart medication all by 7:00 am. All on my supposed “day off” my “day of rest”- ha! But it is a blessing to have dirty dishes, laundry, and even heart medicine so I will not complain.
Many years ago, i began prayer journaling. I have done it off and on through my life. I recently started the practice again and what a blessing it has been. One thing I like to do is to date my prayer entries and then to go back and date a response as to when and how a prayer is answered. It happens more times than you might think. On days when I am feeling low and discouraged, I can flip through my prayer journal and be reminded of the many times and ways God has not only heard my prayers and answered them. It is really amazing to see how prayers are answered- often in ways I could have never imagined.
I have one final note for you this morning. The 12 year old had a friend over last night. As I heard typical sleepover screeching and laughter coming down the hall, I received news my 22 year old daughters best friend from high school was engaged. As I scrolled through Facebook, I saw baby pictures where two of her friends now have little ones of their own. I am so proud of her- she is graduating college in the spring. But those screeches. It seems like only yesterday it was my 22 year old daughter and her group of friends screeching and me yelling “girls!!!!” down the hall. One thing about life- it moves on. Hold those babies while you can and let your tweenagers screech. Happy Sunday.
