Atypical and Awesome “Free Spirit on a Schedule”
I love freedom. But I love my routine and structure, too. I’m a feather in the wind as long as I can be home in time for dinner. Just kidding- kinda. A significant way I manage all the many plates I spin is having structure. I have a pretty set schedule. With the addition of my new exercise regime, my evening schedule has shifted. However, tonight I took an evening off from the gym to ensure I had time to practice my guitar before my lesson Thursday. I also forced myself to go to bed early-or at least to lay in bed early. An overachiever- it is REALLY hard for me to not squeeze every second of productivity out of every day. However, I have learned if I don’t force myself into mandatory rest every few days, my body will force it and not in a pleasant way. So, even my rest and downtime is very scheduled and structured. I find if I have a routine my anxiety goes way down. It is crazy how that works :) Try it. Start simple- try to wake up on a schedule and to go to bed on a schedule most days. Then, try to eat close to the same times each day. I may take this routine thing a little far, Sapphire expects to be fed promptly at 5:08 pm daily. My kids know when to expect dinner and bed. It’s our “thing”. There is comfort in consistency. Well, it’s about that time…. good night!
