Atypical & Awesome “Memorial Day Weekend”
We are enjoying a much needed long weekend. Saturday, Phillip and I went to the farmer’s market and bought the world’s biggest watermelon. Yesterday, we took the kids to a local springs/ swimming hole. It was our first time there and it was nice. It had a little man-made beach area with umbrellas and chairs. The best part is it’s only ten minutes from our house. We’ve lived here seven years and had never been. They also have live music at times so that is an added plus.
After the springs, we came home and had hamburgers, hot dogs, and cut the watermelon. We then played a few backyard games, cranked up the bluetooth for some good ol country music, and Phillip built a fire in the firebowl. We made smores and told dumb stories. The girls then slept on an air mattress in the living room. It was a good day.
Today is Memorial Day so we want to recognize our fallen heroes. Freedom is never free and I am grateful for those who died in conflict so we can live in peace. Thank you for the ultimate sacrifice.
