Atypical & Awesome “Update, Birthday, and a Really Big Carrot”
Wow, what a weekend filled with emotions- excitement, delayed gratification, contentment, reflection, somberness.
Reflection and somberness- the 20th Anniversary of 9/11. No one has forgotten. No one ever will. Where is the kinder, gentler world we once spoke of? We need a serious love infusion. I plan to do my part. I’m gonna do my best to be more compassionate, less petty, and to let a bunch of stuff (anger and resentment) go.
Excitement- Today is Reagan’s 13th birthday. I met her when she was just five years old. I went from being her “step-fairy” to her “bonus mom”. It has been a journey but I love her and she has definitely “schooled me” about some things I thought I knew. We are gonna be celebrating today with family and then with friends next weekend.
Delayed gratification- the radio release of “Girlfriend” (Alice Nelson) has been temporarily delayed but there are some BIG things going on so we are super excited. Meanwhile- check out Alice Nelson Music on Facebook and IG to get details about an awesome #girlfriend contest we have going on.
Contentment- we had a great Friday evening and Saturday. Pizza, milkshakes, and shopping Friday night. I went to my favorite olive oil stare Saturday morning (The Olive Fruit- check them out) and got my usual garlic infused olive oil and a new to me flavor- wild mushroom and sage- can’t wait to try them out! I then headed to the Enterprise Farmer’s Market where I stocked up on produce and baked goods. I’m enjoying some of the apple walnut bread with coffee this morning. I bought onions, peppers, butter beans, potatoes, and the biggest carrot I’ve ever seen. It’s a hoot! After all that, I talked Autumn and Reagan into going with me to a bluegrass festival at Landmark Park. We had fun but it was oh, so hot. We enjoyed watching football on tv and just hanging out as a family for the rest of the evening. I lit my fall candles, there was apple cider, and contentment. We are blessed.
i know this one is a little long but life is beautiful and I have a lot to say these days. The most important is thank you for those who continue to support and encourage me. i see you and love you much.
