Atypical & Awesome “Delirium”
4:30 am- Sapphire gets me up for her breakfast but I am already wide awake. So what do I do while lying awake in bed at 4:30 am? That twilight consciousness is a creative landmine for me. So, I wrote the rough draft for my next comedy routine. Once daylight hit and Phillip was up, I quickly typed it in my phone so I wouldn’t forget it. I can’t tell you how many songs I’ve written in that half-sleep/ half-awake place. The key is to write it fown so it doesn’t slip away if you yourself drift off. But it’s such a cool, creative space- maybe because it’s quiet, maybe because my brain is less distracted but it is cool when it happens.
Next week, depending on how things go (it’s back to school week) I have opportunities for creative outlets through doing stand-up on Monday, spoken-word/poetry on Tuesday, and various open-mics for music. I love the diversity of opportunities presented locally and the nurturing of our creative community.
Well, i’m starting to feel the effects of my twilight writing and I need to coffee-up for work. Have a wonderful week everyone, can’t wait to share my latest awesome musings with the world ;)
