Atypical & Awesome- Special Edition- “Three Not So Little Words”

Yesterday, one of my kids at work (an older male teen) came bursting through the door of my office and said, “Ms Carmen, I need to talk to you”. After some discussion, the problem (and possible solutions) were identified. But what makes this noteable, is this kid asked for help. It was hard for him. “I need help”. Those three words are hard, hard words. So many times recently, I have seen others struggle- often online. You can hear the pain and desperation in people if you watch closely. Sometimes, the words “I need help” are not overt. Sometimes, they are hidden behind forced smiles, or humor, or withdrawal. I struggle with them myself. I’m trying to be better. It is really hard to ask for help but we all need it, sometimes. No man is an island. Sometimes we are called to be the safety net for others. Other times, we have to rely on our “pit crew” to get us back in the race. Thank God for our ability to do this and to receive this. Yes, “I love you” are three important words but sometimes, “I need help” shows even more love because it shows trust. Listen close- you will probably hear it somewhere today.
