Atypical & Awesome “National Poetry Month”

It’s National Poetry month! Thanks to a friend’s “prompting” I joined a poetry site last month: www.allpoetry.com/carmen_melton_bennett. I entered my first poetry contest a few weeks ago and was named a finalist yesterday- so, that was cool. I didn’t win but out of 301 entries, I was one of 44 finalists so that was a lil confidence booster. On Saturday, April 17 I will be sharing poems, spoken word, and a few songs on Kimono My House’s “Poetry, Biscuits, and Jam” show at 2:30 pm CST/ 3:30 pm EST- tune in online if you can- the event will showcase 20 different poets all day starting at 12:30 pm EST- it’s gonna be epic.
