Atypical & Awesome “Like Pulling Teeth”

So, today I had a tooth pulled. That particular tooth was a hot mess and had been causing hell for a few months. I finally got into a dentist and then an oral surgeon for a consult. So, today was the big day. I was scared to death. Like shakes scared. Not necessarily of pain as I can handle pain surprisingly well but just the procedure itself. I had avoided the dentist for over ten years if that tells you anything (seriously). The surgeon was one of those who wanted to talk me through the procedure. I respect his position but please do not engage me and tell me what you are doing. Nope. I need complete denial and detachment. Finally, towards the end he started talking about 90’s music. Praise glory, that I can handle. What about you? If you have to have a scary procedure done and you are awake- what helps you? Do you like to know what is happening or do you like to totally disengage? I am home recovering with a mouth full of gauze. It wasn’t a pleasant experience but at least it is done. How a great day, friends!
