Atypical & Awesome “Candlelight”
So, a friend posted this picture yesterday on Facebook and my mind immediately started creating a story. I have always loved the aesthetic of a little white church. Here is a lyric I wrote inspired by this picture. One day soon, I’m sure some bluegrass music will accompany it but for now- enjoy.
Candlelight
They got married in a little white chapel
In a forgotten town
The air was turning cooler and leaves were on the ground
But they were young and their love kept them warm
As the West Virginia winter came trickling down
He bought her a little house out in the mountains/Where they could hear the trains pass in the night
They didn’t have a whole lot of money/But they made a lot of love by candlelight
Time marched on and before too long a baby was on the way
She’d pack his lunch and he’d leave by dawn each day
but they were young and their love kept growing on
he worked the mines and she’d stay home and pray
He bought her a little house out in the mountains/Where they could hear the trains pass in the night
They didn’t have a whole lot of money/But they made a lot of love by candlelight
The baby came and that house started getting small
And they both knew life was outside their four walls
He got a job with the county and they moved to the city
But every now and then they still hear Appalachia call
He bought her a little house out in the mountains/Where they could hear the trains pass in the night
They didn’t have a whole lot of money/But they made a lot of love by candlelight
