Atypical & Awesome, “Don’t Let Them Fool You”
I’ve seen a lot of posts recently about how the magic of Christmas is gone once your children grow up. Bullshit. Sorry to be blunt but there it is- totally and completely- not true. With our “kids”now spread from 33 to 16 I can say this- it gets better. In fact, in many ways “sweeter”. Life is what you make it- savor every moment. This year, we’ve had brunches, lunches, thrift store plundering, mocktails with charcuterie boards, and still found time for Christmas lights and Rudolph and Frosty on tv. The “magic” is very much still alive- open your eyes. The magic is love. Every phase of our kids’ lives is beautiful- and I cherish each moment they choose to spend with me as adults. This expands to our adult nieces and nephews as well. What a blessing to to be surrounded by amazing young adults. Enjoy the “little years” but know the journey continues well past those few short years. A home your “grown” kids want to return to is truly one of the greatest and often forgotten blessings.
