Atypical & Awesome “Springing into the Future”
BIG week. Alex has an apartment, they are getting ready fo move to Montgomery, and start their career. My grad classes start back tonight- and they are BIG ones. Alice Nelson is opening for Diamond Rio Sunday where she’ll perform a few of our cowrites ar the Opp Rattlesnake Rodeo. We leave for New York Monday morning. I am a part of a huge poetry event in Atlanta next month and I just got put in charge of an all-female comedy event in May. Big stuff, Big prayers requested and appreciated! ❤️⭐️❤️⭐️
Sometimes life can be completely overwhelming and I find myself in deep reflection tonight. I wrote the first half of today’s blog this morning as I gulped down my first cup of morning coffee. This evening, after dinner, I went for a short walk to just pray and get grounded. We’ve been in this house for seven years and have seen so much of life come and go. But there are constants… every year about this time the azaleas bloom and then die from that second freeze that comes right before the kids’ spring break. The cotton fields get overrun by ragweed and other wildflowers. It’s beautiful even if it stirs my allergies. Before long, the farmers will plow them up to prepare for the spring planting season. Like those plows, the world keeps turning even amidst our own personal chaos. Life is rarely a nice sculpted bouquet. Like the flowers sprinkled in our yard brought by seeds carried in the wind, each day brings new surprises. I am learning to embrace the wildflowers.
