Atypical & Awesome “Rain, Poetry, and Spongebob”

Rain- like right now- when it is softly drzzling and there is no lightning or thunder involved may just be one of my favorite things. I love to curl up in bed with a good book and a perfect cup of coffee and just savor the tranquility. Some people love the intensity of a storm but not me. I’m a sweet sound of rain on pavement kind of girl. I understand why there are so many songs about rain- it is purely magical.
I recently had a poem, “Confetti Confessions” published in a collection of poetry titled, “A Poetry Garden” and put out by allpoetry.com. Thanks to the encouragement of my friend and fellow songwriter, Jonathan Phipps I joined back in February during National Poetry month. Jonathan encouraged me to write a poem a day that month. I entered the monthly contest with the prompt, “After the party”. “Confetti Confessions” was flagged as a finalist out of a few hundred entries so that was fun:) I am a songwriter so poetry writing is a little different and I have probably broken a lot of the poetry rules my English teachers taught me back in high school but it is still an enjoyable creative outlet.

I have heard rumblings of a few more cuts in the works so I look forward to sharing those with you. I got my royalty statement, yesterday and one of my songs has been linked to Spongebob in Canada. I doubt that they actually used it but seeing Spongebob Squarepants on my royalty statement cracks me up. Have a great weekend!
