Atypical & Awesome “All Those Old Melodies Still Sound So Good to Me”

Those who know me, know how much I love music from 80’s and 70’s. I am unapologetically obsessed with James Taylor. He is literally THE man for me as far as singer songwriters. Last night, it was JT and me. Tonight, it’s the Carpenters. My gosh, Karen. Her voice just kills me every time. And then, there’s Richard’s arrangements. It just touches me in such a sweet yet somewhat melancholy way. And the memories, oh my goodness. The music that makes up the soundtracks of our lives is pretty irreplacable. Songs may come and go but when they can work their way into our auditory emotional memories- there’s just nothing like it. That is the ultimate goal for me as a writer- to touch that place deep inside a listener that immediately takes them somewhere special when they hear the song. It’s a mental scrapbook full of melodies and time stamps . Tonight, I am savoring the memories.
