Atypical & Awesome “2020 Vision”

My thoughts are scattered tonight so bear with me. 2020- what a b*tch. I don’t think I got a single cut this year. In fact, got my heart broken a few times in the music biz in 2020. I thought about throwing in the towel more than once. I finally just said “screw it” to commercially focused writing this year and focused on the music I love and have always wanted to write. I wrote hippie, earthy, organic songs. I wrote songs straight out of 90’s country radio. I wrote songs about the afterlife, being different, and weird story songs. I wrote some really good Christmas songs. Our choir at church even sang one! I played one show this year. A Christmas show- and was able to perform two of my original Christmas songs with the help of a dear friend, Shelia. A dear friend with whom I have grown closer to - she is even teaching me guitar. We have already gone through a lot together- far beyond bar chords and capos. I have written a ton of songs with my sweet Canadian friend, Jessica. We live thousands of miles apart but we are so much alike- she has been a joy to write with. My kids have been home a lot this year due to COVID. We have spent so much time together- family dinners and just “hanging out”- it has been a blessing. I have really scaled back my going out and in-person networking due to COVID. I’m getting kinda use to being a homebody (when I’m not working). So what I have lost as far as life in the fast lane of the music biz has been replaced by friends and family this year. I can’t really complain, honestly. Phillip turned 50 this week. We stand at a strange crossroads in life. Not sure where the road is headed but I only know I want to take the road with him. Thank you for being a part of this blog- 2020 saw the birth of this website so thanks for supporting me. I truly appreciate every single click! Cheers, dear ones!
