Atypical & Awesome “Happily Ever After”
Phillip and I attended a wedding last night and it was the first we had attended in years. It got us talking about young love, hopes, and dreams- fresh towels, strawberries, and sunshine. And then, the reality of sour grapes and rain storms and laundry- all the time. And then, things smoothing out and a little flicker of hope at the end of the tunnel. We’ve both have been through it before meeting each other and if you know what “it” is, you understand. Things are better this time and to use Phillip’s often cited quote, we’re “doing much better now”. In fact, we talked about renewing our vows down the road (maybe on our 10 year). He’s thinking the beach, I’m thinking Gatlinburg. Maybe. We’ll see. Weddings are about hope. A hope for happiness and the fairytale ending. I hope the newlywed couple has it. But for whatever reason, Phillip and I both had a few extra twists and turns in our stories. But it brought us here and here is good. Not exactly a crystal slipper and stagecoach but more like TOMS and a SUV and a whole lot of laughter and Ibuprofen.
