Atypical & Awesome “The Nightstand of a Middle Aged Woman”
The nightstand of a middle aged woman tells a story or stories. Right now, mine has four water bottles in various stages of use, a fresh cup of coffee, an empty can of ginger ale, lotion, a variety of pills, books, and a lamp with “Live, Laugh, Love” on the shade- seriously. But there are reasons- some a little for poignant- for this disaray.
The pills. I’ve dealt with a nasty disorder called dysautonomia since my twenties which resulted in me getting a pacemaker 15 years ago. Before I get out of bed each morning, I take a pill and wait for my body to regulate before I get up. If not, I get dizzy and often sick which messes up my whole day. I have to drink A LOT due to my disorder as my symptons escalate with dehydration which happens very easliy with me. There is also a pouch of various meds in case something does go wrong. The ginger ale is the result of recent tummy woes. Fortunately, if I stick to my routine I usually do fine.
The coffee- now that’s a sweet story. Phillip brings me my coffee in bed most mornings. Is that not the sweetest thing? He knows my mornings are rough and he tries to help any way he can.
The books. Most of the books are ones I have had some personal connection to- having been a beta reader for several authors and assisted authors in restructuring and titling their books, etc. Most are autographed and very special to me. There is also my prayer journal where I write down specific prayers and then go back and write how the prayer was answered.
The lamp- well, I needed a lamp on my nightstand and I had bought this for my office ten years ago before the phrase “Live Laugh Love” became well, laughable-lol.
Yep, my nightstand tells a story. That is just the top shelf. Will tell you about the bottom shelf another day.
