Atypical & Awesome “Moving Forth on the Fourth”

For the first time, Phillip and I only have one of our kids home on July 4th. We are having a “lazy” day after a weekend full of festivities. Last night, we were kid-free so we had a date night. I made us dinner at home and the went out to play pool and listen to one of my cowriters, Darrell Qualls and his band the Outlaws. They are fantastic and do a great job on outlaw country- definitely, check them out!

Today, I’ve been working on a new summertime tune with my buddy Dennis Powell. We’ve written some good tunes together and I’m honored to represent Dennis as a publisher. Nothing would make me happier than to see him have a big ol hit.

I just received some great news about another of my cowriters, Rebekah Hastings! She made the finals in a singing competition she has been in and will be traveling to San Antonio, TX to compete. She will be performing in front of some big names in the Contemporary Christian Music world including Danny Gokey. I spoke with Rebekah the other day and she is considering singing one if our cowrites, “Battle” for the finals- how cool is that?

So, Phillip and I are in our pj’s but “taking care of business” even on our day off, We’ve had a great weekend and are blessed. Have a great 4th-Happy Birthday, USA!
