Atypical & Awesome “Sunshine after the Rain”
We had a bad week. Like, historically bad. BUT. Yesterday, was beautiful. We started the day saying goodbye to and celebrating the life of a wonderful person. Old friends were hugged and new friends were made. That alone makes for a beautiful day.
Phillip and I got coffee together and had lunch together. We somehow ended up at three different bars throughout the course of the day- although neither of us drink lol First up was Wild Honey for Wild Honey lattes. While I’ve tried the Enterprise location a few times, I had not tried the Dothan location- five out of five stars. Our lattes were stellar. Putting that one on our “list”. Lunch was at Folklore Brewing. Blue Moon Cafe provided Cajun fare and I’d been wanting to give them a try. Pretty good- I enjoyed my grouper basket with handcut fries. I was starving by the time we arrived so hit the spot. It’s a cool venue- we’ve been a time or two to see friends play there. I’d never been there in the day hours so that was a new experience.
We had three invites last night so it was hard to not get to support all our friends in their pursuits. We opted to head to Harlow’s to support our friends in Midlife Crisis and their support act Reptile Dysfuntion. Let’s talk about the lizards, first- lol We were delightfully surprised. They were very cohesive and did a great job engaging the crowd. Way to go, guys. We’ll be hearing more from them I’m sure. Midlife Crisis. What to say. The crowd really says it all. A packed house of supporters and people having a grand time. The band is not only tight and spot on musically- they are humble and gracious. That goes a real long way in my book.
We left after the second set to get back to Enterprise to duck in to Bugsy’s to catch the Frank Fletcher Band. The parking lot over flowed on both sides. I’ve never seen a crowd that big at Bugsy’s! WOW. We went in but unfortunately, there were those darn strobe lights (i get it, I used to LOVE them) so we had to leave but I was happy to see so many folks out supporting Frank and the band. Those are some great guys, too and the work hard to bring a great show.
There is more that I will include another day but I will conclude with some words from this week’s birthday girl, Miss Dolly- “ if you want the rainbow, you’ve got to put up with the rain”. We had the rain this week, the sunshine on Saturday, so that rainbow must be coming. Have a great Sunday, everyone.
