Atypical & Awesome “Relief”
Alex is home safe and sound from their exciting week in New York. They had quite the adventure and we plan to utlize the US rail system again in the spring. The thing about trains- yes, they take longer than flying BUT there is no chance of a canceled flight and being stuck at an airportI. Ww will still fly some but when we have time, we will be boarding the train- lol.
I am off today thanks to my employer giving us MLK day off in lieu of our birthday this year. I plan to enjoy every minute of it while reflecting on the works of MLK and how I can continue to advocate for oppressed populations. Today will also have a lot of self-care built in as the past few weeks have been pretty rough.
Saturday night, Phillip and I went to the Village Inn to support the Alice Nelson Band. It was nice to hear “Girlfriend” (Nelson, Bennett) played live with a full band. Alice also did a few of our songs acoustically, “Here Comes the Rain” (Nelson, Powell, and Bennett), and “Down Low” (Nelson, Bennett).
I’ve already made coffee, cinnamon rolls, pigs in the blanket, and cheese crescents this morning. It’s gonna be a great day. I’m booking cowrites, working on songs, and doing music paperwork today. I plan to stay in my pj’s and spend quality time with Sapphire. Oh, how I NEED this day off- whew!
