Atypical & Awesome “Coffee, Candles, and City Lights”
A moment to breathe- finally. The past two weeks have been incredibly hard for multiple reasons. This morning, however I am up alone on the couch, wrapped in an old comforter, armed with Ibuprofen and chocolate coconut coffee. I’m reflecting on the victories, the “good stuff”, intertwined with the not so good stuff of recent weeks.
The biggest victory- the thing that makes my heart smile the most is Alex has had a great week in New York visiting Autumn. This was Alex’s college graduation/ Christmas present and a big item on my bucket list (to get all the kids to NY). Alex and Autumn rode the train from Tuscaloosa to Manhattan ( flights lately have been nuts plus, it was a new experience). They’ve eaten lots of good food and while Autumn worked, Alex explored. I’ve so enjoyed seeing the pictures this week. Seeing my kids smile makes me smile.
Phillip was out of town several nights this week so it afforded me some time to light a few candles, celebrate my birthday with cheesecake, and crack open a bottle of sparkling (nonalcoholic) rose’. Phillip had hid my present in his closet before he left and texted me it’s location the morning of my birthday. I’m now the proud owner of an aqua Keurig for ny office. He also brought me lottery tickets and chicken and dumplings from Cracker Barrel when he returned home last night. Does this man know my heart or what?
Looking back, I guess there has been a lot more good over recent days than I realized. May your weekend be filled with the things that make you smile.
