Atypical & Awesome “Peanut Butter Cups”
Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups- specifically, the miniatures are forever linked to a memory of my sister Cindy. I was probably fourteen or fifteen and had gone to stay with Cindy for the weekend. Cindy was in her early twenties and was a kindergarten teacher in Georgia. Now, I am not sure if she and David were married, engaged, or just heavily in the depths of courtship at this time but I most definitely remember going grocery shopping with Cindy during this trip. As she selected items, she picked up a bag of “Reese’s Miniature Peanut Butter Cups” and threw them into the cart saying, “David likes these”. Now back then, they were not cheap at least not in my world. But it wasn’t the $3.50 price that got my attention. Cindy got something for David dimply because she saw it and knew it was something he liked. It was a little act of love and thoughtfulness that impacted my fourteen or fifteen year old psyche. Partnerships could be about just simply thinking about the other person when you are going about your day. Cindy and David have been married forever now (32 years?!) but Cindy taught me a life lesson that day- love is an action word and sometimes it comes dressed like Reese’s Miniature Peanut Butter Cups.
