Blue Plate Blog- “Coffee Shops, Memory Lane, Nostalgia”

Entree- Last night, my husband and I attended a songwriters’ show at a local coffee shop. Few things make me happier than “coffeeshop music”. I love the atmosphere, the vibe, overall feel. I’m not really a bar person so I enjoy getting to listen to acoustic music in a low-key environment. I really think I was born in the wrong era. I would have totally been a coffeeshop performer back in the seventies.

First side: Speaking of coffeeshops, I was in college when “Friends” debuted. Coffeeshops then popped up everywhere. This was in the mid-nineties. Ironically, one of last night’s performers sang in a cover band I use to go see way back in those college days. Talk about nostalgia! I really wanted to ask him to sing some Tonic but didn’t think it would be appropriate :)

Second side: The whole experienced sent me down memory lane- big time. So, I wrote a song- of course. Got the lyric down will work on the melody later- working title is “Big Chill”. Some of you will get the reference.

Dessert- 30 Days of Peace Day 10- Go down memory lane if it makes you smile. Just don’t stay there. Your glory days are ahead of you- onward and upwards, dear ones. Until next time, order’s up!
