Atypical & Awesome “Songs You Know By Heart”

I wore it out. I had the cassette and in college it was my official “laying out in the sun” music. My heart truly breaks at this loss. Jimmy Buffet. Fittingly leaving us on Labor Day weekend while margaritas are likely flowing across the US. He built an empire on escapism. As a songwriter, he reminds us to take the audience somewhere and sometimes, the best songs are the ones that make us feel something. It’s really hard to listen to Buffet and not smile. He was a man and a brand. Thank you sir, for everything. You leave us with dream to keep chasing. We are all striving for our own version of Margaritaville. I hope you have found yours, I’m pretty sure you have.

I have a cowrite this afternoon and several other songwriting and publishing things going on. Plus, there is comedy, grad school, and family stuff which I will update you on soon. Please check out this great interview of Jessica Lavallee by Dave Woods- she talks about songwriting and gives a shout out to “Small Town Girl” which I cowrote with Jessica and her dad, Terry Lavallee: https://open.spotify.com/episode/7cJPgqgqObFl6ePrTZoEUc?si=s2PUTS53RxqpQK3TaAOSsA&context=spotify%3Ashow%3A1MLIoEsmg4ZjKivDmmx66q
