Atypical & Awesome “Adieu, August”

August was a month filled with creative endeavors and new experiences. I did stand-up comedy twice (in two different cities)- again at The Social in Enterprise with Phillip and also, at Happy Times in Ozark. I did spoken word at the Wiregrass Museum of Art and performed my boldest pieces to date including my poem, “What Makes A Wh*re”.

Phillip and I attended the WMA Yard Party for Art where we saw a few great acts perform including Symone French. I ventured out to see her the following Friday and Sixtel Bottling and Growler House in Enterprise. We are planning to write together soon so I am excited to see what we create.

I also had cowrites with Alice Nelson and Travis Myles. Speaking of which, for the first time in months I performed a song live. This past Friday, I performed “Red Wine and Blue” (Myles, Bennett) at Hoobler Open- Mic.

in August, I caught a few performances here and there, saw “Where the Crawdads Sing” (after reading the book in a weekend), participated in trivia night with Phillip and Alex at the Barrel Room (we came in 2nd) and started graduate school! Oh, and let’s not forget while nursing two kidney stones and continuing to work full-time. Reagan started 8 th grade and Michael started college. And a random dog showed up. All I can say is August- you came and showed out. September- whatcha got??
