Atypical & Awesome “Train Adventures Day 2 and the Arrival”

Tuesday was a full-on train travel day as we chugga chugga choo chooed up the east coast. The Carilina’s, Virginia (which seemed to go on forever- but it was pretty), Delaware, Maryland, Washington, DC, Philadelphia, New Jersey….and finally, arriving in NYC. 27 hours including the 2 hour delay by train from Birmingham to NYC.

Autumn met us at Penn Station. After a few minutes of angst at baggage claim (it was not located at all where we thought it would be- we had to cross the road and go to a different building) and Penn station is huge, btw, we got our things. We made the trek to the subway station and gave the younger kids their first taste of the metro.

First stop was our hotel to check in and drop off the bulk of our things. Phillip, Michael, and I had a hotel and Reagan would be stating with Autumn. So, we then boarded the metro again to head to Autumn’s apartment.

It’s been a year since we moved Autumn in and she has really made Brooklyn her home. Her apartment is so cute and it has “Autumn” written all over it. The rooftop view of her building is breathtaking. She is truly living “the life”.

It was late by the time we got everyone at least somewhat situated , so finding a place to eat was a little challenging even in NY. So, we took a chance on a 24/7 diner close to Autumn’s apartment- Neptune’s Diner. Boy, am i glad we did. it was amazing! I was served the biggest pancakes ever and our server was perfect.

Phillip, Michael, and I headed back to our hotel to get some much needed rest. The adventures are just beginning- stay tuned!
