Atypical & Awesome “A Week of Adventure- Wednesday- Cherry Blossoms, Lady Liberty, Pizza, and Chinatown ”
We’ve had a great few days of adventure in New York. Wednesday was the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens to see the cherry blossom trees. It was beautiful. In a couple more weeks it will be stunning! Lots of school groups were there and we were blessed with good weather. On the way back to Autumn’s apartment we stopped at Crown Heights Pizza to give the kids their first NY Pizza experience. It was delish!
Since it was pretty, we opted to do a chartered boat ride to see the Statue of Liberty. While we waited for a tour we ate spicy fresh fruit cups we bought from a lady on the pier. The tour itself was a lot of fun as the on- board dj played patriotic tunes including Neil Diamond’s, “Coming to America” and ending with Frank Sinatra’s “New York, New York”. It’s a surreal experience to be see Lady Liberty up close and personal.
Since the pier was close to Chinatown, we ventured out for dinner there while we were in the area. We got a little turned around but finally found a place. We had hot tea and I ordered the albeit “boring” sesame chicken (which was FIRE, btw). The kids ordered a shrimp casserole and a chicken casserole. The casseroles were more like stew and served in big crock type bowls. For dessert, we were served some type creamy, lemon gelatin squares. There were ducks hanging in the window and HUGE crabs in the tanks. It was a cool experience for the kids and we all had a great day :)
