Atypical & Awesome “Week of Adventure- Thursday- Museum, Street Food, Central Park, Comedy!”

So, welcome to a special 2nd portion installment of Atypical & Awesome as we have a lot of catching up to do as this week was super action packed. Thursday was the coldest day we had so we planned for a museum day. We grabbed bagels and coffee from Bagel Hub en route to Autumn’s apartment. We then took the subway into Manhattan to visit the American Museum of Natural History. After a couple of hours there (including a family portrait with Teddy Roosevelt) it was warm enough for a hot dog from the street vendor and a quick visit to Strawberry Fields at Central Park.

Phillip and I had made a BIG plan (which we kept secret except for the kids). We had looked up a place to do open-mic comedy in New York! The Tiny Cupboard in Brooklyn has open-mic comedy and comedy workshops almost daily- how cool is that??? We really wanted to perform in the Pink Room but due to some absolute CRAZINESS (which involved the Long Island Railroad and a jacked up google maps ) we were too late. But we did make the Blue Room. The kids and the two of us (yes, Phillip and me) had to go up a FIRE ESCAPE to reach the Blue Room but we made it. Phillip and I did our sets ( I think we both rocked it) and trekked back to Autumn’s. We took a Lyft this time-no more Long Island Railroad for us! Getting to the comedy was just as comedic as the actual performance and the kids will not forget that night! Because the craziness of the evening impacted our dinner time, we went back to Neptune’s Diner where I hot real New York cheesecake. It is an awesome place, for sure and we laughed our butts off about our adventures today! But hey, Phillip and I did comedy in New York!
