Atypical & Awesome, “The Tony’s, the Blues, and New Venues”
So, Sunday night I watched the Tony Awards for the first time. “Hell’s Kitchen” is on my list to check out during one of our trips to NYC. I loved that the audience seemed genuinely supportive of each other- something often mossing at other awards programs. I wish I could have been a theatre kid but my little town in Alabama did not offer anything other than yearly class plays. I always participated though and even wrote a play in the 4th grade. I guess that bug was always there but suppressed for a long time.
So, I turned to songwriting. I have spent the past 19 years writing songs. Now it is time to blend the two and work on that musical(s). It’s time.
Speaking of music, I attended the monthly gathering for the Wiregrass Blues Society on Tuesday evening. It was at the same cigar bar Phillip and I had gone to Saturday night for comedy. Ironically, very few of the blues society were smoking lol I thought surely it would be filled with cool cats in hats blowing smoke rings. Nevertheless, it was a nice evening and I enjoyed listening to Marla Drake and Montage.
Tonight, Phillip is meeting with a new venue about starting a monthly comedy open-mic with them. It would be cool to fet this venue so hoping it will work out.
We stay busy. Lots going on as always- thank you for being a part of our story!
