Atypical & Awesome “3 Day Weekend- Rock Mob, Benji’s, & Easter”
We’ve had a great, long weekend. Friday night, I donned a sparkly cowgirl hat, my Poison t-shirt, and headed to Bama Slam with my emotional support hubby. We rocked out to the Rock Mob and I sipped cranberry juice. We stayed until the strobe lights started getting to me but if you love 80’s glam rock, check em out. They are truly one of the best cover bands in the area and each band member truly holds their own.
Saturday evening, we headed to Benji’s in Daleville for their first ever poetry and storytelling night. What fun! We had seven presenters. I think this event will only grow- the venue is PERFECT for creative expression. I will be hosting the “Funny Girls” all female comedy show there on May 13 8 pm. At 7 pm, the mic will be open for poetry, storytelling, and spoken word. If you’ve been thinking about trying out your creative voice this is a safe, encouraging environment. Now after 8 pm- all bets are off because it turns to comedy- lol Benji’s is awesome and they offer authentic Puerto Rican barbecue- I mean, how cool is that?
Today, we attended a different church for Easter as Reagan was involved in an Easter program with a friend at her friend’s church. It was a nice experience with a lot of music including some old school gospel. Sometimes you just need some old time religion ;)
This week will be another busy one. Tomorrow night, Phillip and I will be performing in The Social on Main’s Comedy Open-Mic hosted by Cam Stephens. Thursday night, Alice Nelson is having her “Here Comes the Rain” (Nelson, Bennett, Powell) single release party. Make sure you check out my events page for updates! As always, thank you for your support and Happy Easter!
