Atypical & Awesome “It Almost Got Me”

The week started off amazing. Had multiple great music experiences to include attending a songwriters’ open mic where I was called out to say a few words about songwriting. Everyone was welcoming and I felt like a real part of a music community this week.

And then. All hell broke loose. Tuesday morning on the way to work, I began having complicated migraine symptoms. You can’t “tough out” a complicated migraine but I tried to tough it out at work. Ended up leaving work early (which I rarely do) and had the worst physical night I have had in probably fifteen years. Plus, the timing was terrible as it was the night of my grad school orientation. Fortunately, it was online and recorded so I will be listening to it this weekend.

Although still quite sick, I made it to work the next day and came home and went to bed. I was freezing. Despite it being the dead of summer, I slept with a heated blanket for two nights. This week has pretty much been work and bed. I did take an at-home COVID test yesterday and it was negative. Whatever this is feels a lot like the flu and a lot like my atypical screwed up autonomic system. It’s been pretty awful and I hate having missed out of several events I’d like to be out promoting.

And then, there was more. More stress and “bad stuff” thrown in the midst of my struggle fest. It just about got the best of me. But as He always does, God shined down and brought some hope. And my poor husband- bless him. Most of our weeks are amazing- this one was not. Hoping this headache will finally dissipate and we can have some good or at least not as bad days this weekend.

I post a lot of “happy” stuff but I think it’s important to show the “not so happy” stuff sometimes, too. Guess what- we’re normal and so are you. Life is full of peaks and valleys- for all of us. If you are in a valley- know that I love you. Like, legitimately love you. You have value and this storm will pass. Don’t let it get you.
