Atypical & Awesome “Coming Out of the Dark”
I see that train a’comin, it’s comin round the bend, and I aint seen the sunshine since I don’t know when. If that hasn’t been this week- it’s been a doozy, whew! But there is a light at the end of the tunnel (choo! choo!)
I stayed in my pjs most of yesterday because I still felt rough. Around 6 pm, I picked up my guitar for the first time this week. I put in a little practice on a song I’m super proud of, “Red Wine and Blue” which I wrote with Travis Myles. I’m hoping to play it out soon. Also, worked on a Reba cover song and started a new song called, “Think about Love”. I needed that- even when I feel bad, I feel worse if I’m not engrossed in music or creating.
I’ve been given a new income stream (small but mighty) which has me excited. I’m getting paid for some things I’ve been doing all along so that makes me feel happy and validated- both good things.
Finally… Rebekah Hastings. Yall. She did it. She won the whole thing. The “You, God’s Music” singing competition where she performed in front of Danny Gokey and others in the CCM industry. She won a $10.000 recording package among other prizes. Girl has a testimony! This journey has been a journey. She ended up singing another song in the finals rather than one we cowrote but she did what she felt led to do and it worked out for her. The story of the process of her getting to this point is a good one. I’m just- almost at a loss for words. She almost, in fact, at first she didn’t make the top 25 and then by a weird paypal delay of votes- she did. THEN- she made top 5 and was flown to Texas. Then, last night around 9 pm- she won the whole enchilada!!!! From Alaska to Texas- fire and ice, for sure! Keep your eyes on her- she’s got real big fish to fry!
So my head is still loopy from that debilitating migraine this week but things are looking up. I’m booking cowrites and consults so message me for slots. After August 15, my time will be limited as I enter grad school in pursuit of my second Master’s degree.
