Atypical & Awesome “Nashville- Monday”

Monday was COLD. We were gonna walk to Broadway and made it one block before we turned around due to the ripping wind. Instead, we returned to our hotel, put on more layers of clothes and DROVE to Broadway. It was well worth the $20 parking fee to not freeze. Yeah, yeah I know- Broadway. But it was Phillip’s first trip to Nashville and it was Monday during the day. I pointed out some of the famous haunts: Tootsie’s, Ernest Tubb, Printer’s Alley, Legends…. We took pictures, ate barbecue at Jack’s (some of the best baked beans I think I’ve had), and got our bearings. We made reservations for the Listening Room later that evening for an amazing event they host on Monday’s- “Song Suffragettes”- an all female singer-songwriter round. The stars aligned because not only did we get tickets to this coveted and often sold-out show but we were sat directly in front of the stage. The ladies were all amazing and the food was great (Turkey Crisp and homemade chips- yuuum). I left smiling and inspired- women really should support women. I really like and respect this movement. Once we returned to the hotel, we decided to take a walk. We checked out the venues close to our hotel and took pics of the naked statues on the round-about. We made note of the BMI and ASCAP offices and took selfies in front of a big microphone. We were tourists in an old town. Although I’ve been to Nashville many times, having Phillip with me made the experience completely fresh for me. There was some much needed healing- I’m grateful.
