Blue Plate Blog Episode 28- Darkness
Entree: “Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.” -MLK, Jr. The world seems to be angrier and more hate-filled by the minute. Have we moved forward at all in any capacity towards a more humane humanity? We can do better- we are so much better than this-come on, dear ones. Refuse to accept hate as an acceptable standard.
First side: Where is the love? Where is the compassion? I truly feel most people as individuals are “good” people but boy, as a collective whole we are failing miserably.
Second side: Where do we start? How does real change happen? It begins right where you are right now. Checking yourself and being accountable for your own thoughts and actions is a first step. Every pebble makes a ripple. Be the change you want to see.
Dessert: Don’t assume you know what someone (or group) needs. Talk. Communicate. Admit your ignorance and lack of understanding. Find a way- however small, to move forward in a positive way. It isn’t politics, it isn’t sociology, it is humanity. Be the damn light.
